Naturopathic Physicians

A Naturopathic Doctor (ND) is completely different from a Medical Doctor (MD.) Naturopathic education includes certain areas of study not covered in conventional medical school. At the same time, aspiring naturopathic doctors receive training in the same biomedical and diagnostic sciences as MDs and osteopathic doctors (DOs). In addition, many Naturopathic Doctors are trained in primary care, while some choose to specialize in endocrinology, gastroenterology, pediatrics, oncology, etc.

Now NDs do diagnose, prevent, and treat acute and chronic illness to restore and establish optimal health. This supports the patient's inherent self-healing process rather than just suppressing symptoms, also know as treating the root cause of the issue(s). They work to identify underlying causes and develop personalized treatment protocols.

They remove obstacles to health, which in other words is the natural state of one’s body that is disturbed by obstacles that lead to disease(s). The first step in returning to health is to remove the entities that disturb health like poor diet, digestive disturbances, lack of exercise, chronic stress levels, etc. Naturopathic doctors construct a healthy regimen based on an individual’s “obstacles to health,” thus changing and improving the terrain in which disease(s) developed.

Naturopathic physicians treat each patient by taking into account their individual physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, and social factors. (Basically, they treat the entire person as a whole a not a piece by piece puzzle.) Since total health also includes spiritual health, naturopathic physicians encourage individuals to pursue their personal spiritual development.

More specifically, Naturopathic care includes diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, which are clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing, nutritional medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, intravenous and injection therapy, and many more...

Now, with this wide range of knowledge and expertise, this is exactly why more people need to be aware of what ND stands for...
